1. From the North (Quebec, Montreal, Plattsburgh, Albany) via
I-87 South.
I-87 South to I-90. I-90 West to Exit 25A (I-86). Follow I-86
South to Exit 1 (I-81 North). Take I-81 North to Exit 8 (Whitney
Point). Then follow Route 79 West to Cornell University. (see
No. 8 below).
2. From the North (Ottawa, Watertown, Syracuse) via I-81 South.
81 South to Exit 12. Route 281 South to Route 13 South. Route
13 South to Cornell University. (see No. 9 below).
3. From the East (Boston, Albany) via I-90 (NYS Thruway) West.
I-90 West to Exit 25A (I-86). Follow I-86 South to Exit 1 (I-81
North). Take I-81 North to Exit 8 (Whitney Point). Then follow
Route 79 West to Cornell University. (see No. 8 below)
4. From the East (New York City, Middletown) via Route 17 West.
Route 17 West to I-81. Take I-81 North to Exit 8 (Whitney Point).
Then follow Route 79 West to Cornell University. (see No. 8 below)
5. From the West (Toronto, Buffalo, Rochester) via I-90 (NYS
Thruway) East.
I-90 East to Exit 42 (Route 14). Take Route 14 South to Route
96. Follow Route 96 South into Ithaca, then Route 79 East to Cornell
University. (see No. 10 below).
6. From the West (Erie, Jamestown, Olean, Corning) via Route
17 East.
Route 17 East to Exit 64 (Route 13 North). Route 13 North to Ithaca
to Route 79 East to Cornell University (see No. 10 below).
7. From the South (Philadelphia, Scranton, Binghamton) via
I-81 North.
I-81 North to Exit 8. Then follow Route 79 West to Cornell University.

8. From the East (Whitney Point, Lisle, Richford) via Route
79 West.
Rte. 79 West goes through Whitney Point, Lisle, Center Lisle,
Richford, Slaterville Springs. Continue on Route 79, after Six
Mile Creek Winery, turn right at the blinking light (Pine Tree
Rd.). Follow Pine Tree Rd. to route 366. Turn right on 366. go
up hill, turn left into Tower Rd. (a second entrance to the University),
turn right onto Campus Rd. Right onto paid parking lot area.
9. From the North (Homer, Cortland, Dryden) via Route 13 South.
Route 13 South to Route 366. Route 366 South to Tower Rd. (first
right after first Street light). turn right onto Campus Rd. Right
onto paid parking lot area.
10. From the West (Waterloo, Romulus, Trumansburg) via Route
79 East.
Follow Route 79 East (West State St., Fulton St., Green St.),
to Route 366. Turn left into Route 366. Go past a street light,
then a yield sign (an entrance to the University), a blinking
red light and stop sign (Pine Tree Rd.), up hill, turn left into
Tower Rd. (another entrance to the University), turn right onto
Campus Rd. and right onto paid parking lot area.

Directions by Air
|
- The Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH) is the local airport,
and the most convenient to Cornell University. The Best Western
University and most hotels run courtesy vans from the airport
to the hotel (please check with them when making reservations).
The next most convenient is Syracuse (SYR) 60 miles to the North
of Ithaca. Ground transportation to Ithaca may be by van or rental
car. Some of the rental car companies do not have drop-off charges
from Syracuse to Ithaca airport and vice versa. (Please see driving
directions).
Binghamton/Endicott/Johnson City, NY (BGM) 50 miles to the south
of Ithaca. (Please see driving directions "from the South
via I-81 North").
Corning/Elmira, NY (ELM) 35 miles to the South (Please see driving
directions "from the Wesr via Route 17 East)).
Rochester, NY (ROC) 95 miles to the North (Please see driving
directions "from the West via I90 East").
